The Town of Beloit Police Department strives to provide impartial, ethical, and professional law enforcement services in an efficient and effective manner. The Police Department works cooperatively with members of the community, surrounding communities, and surrounding law-enforcement agencies to preserve peace, reduce fear, and ensure the safety and protection of those who reside, work, visit, or travel through the Town.

The Town of Beloit Police Department patrols approximately 27 square miles to the north and west of the City of Beloit. The patrol area is a mix of urban and rural neighborhoods. The police department serves approximately 8,000 town residents as well as several thousand additional daily commuters traveling through the community.

The police department utilizes 7 squad cars, 1 patrol boat, a speed trailer, thermal cameras, night vision, radar, and several other types of equipment to provide service to the community.

The Town of Beloit Police Department is comprised of 15 full-time sworn officers and 1 part-time sworn officer. In addition to sworn officers the department employs 2 full-time and 2 part-time non-sworn civilian employees who assist officers in providing service to the Town.

Patrol officers work 8.5 hours per day on a 5/2/5/3 work schedule. Patrol officers and patrol sergeants are WPPA union members and have an excellent benefits package which includes, health and dental insurance, Wisconsin Retirement (WRS), vacation time, and sick time.

While patrol duties are the primary function for officers, several of our officers are cross-trained in a variety of specialties, to include, but not limited to; SWAT, hostage negotiations, crime scene investigations, drug investigations, drug recognition expert (DRE), Human Trafficking, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC), boat patrol, ICS/NIMS, and background investigations.

Several of our officers are also state certified trainers for EVOC, Firearms, DAAT, and Less Lethal systems.

Examples of Services Provided:

  • Detection, apprehension, and prosecution of violators and offenders of local, state, and federal laws;
  • Conduct complex criminal investigations;
  • Directed patrol;
  • Traffic Crash Investigation;
  • Crime Prevention;
  • Provide safety services for Special Events;
  • Partners with the School District of Beloit Turner to provide a safe and secure educational environment;
  • Works cooperatively with related service providers;
  • Engages in high-visibility traffic enforcement;
  • Water safety patrol, rescue/recovery efforts, and water safety enforcement;
  • Monitors alcohol-licensed establishments to ensure compliance with all licensing regulations;
  • Assist neighboring communities in times of need.
